Bachmann BBQ and Train Ride at Roaring Camp RR

Back by popular demand, and sponsored this year by Bachmann Trains, the 2023 National Garden Railway Convention is thrilled to announce that our BBQ will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the Roaring Camp and Big Trees Railroad near Felton, California.
This Old West style park has a narrow gauge steam train ride through the towering redwoods that is arguably one of the best one-hour tourist railroad rides in the country. They use geared logging locomotives, Shays and Heislers, to make the steep, twisty climb up Bear Mountain. Because of the steep grade each train can only take 150 people up the mountain at a time so we have secured two trains to accommodate a maximum group size of 300 attendees. We suggest you register early to avoid missing out.
When you register for the BBQ you must choose either:
- The fist train at 3:45 pm with the BBQ served at 5 pm; or
- The second train ride at 5 pm with the earlier BBQ serving at 3:45 pm.
The people at Roaring Camp will be serving us their hearty barbecue steak meal, including Ranch Style Beans, a salad and corn on the cob. A delicious vegetarian tofu stir fry option will also be available at both dinner seatings. Please select this option if you desire when you order tickets.
Your meal will be accompanied by live music with dance lessons available for those that choose to participate. We will also have Hand Car rides available for a small additional charge.
After the train rides are over, everyone in attendance will enjoy a dessert of hot apple pie from 6:30 to 7 pm.
A bus from the convention hotel to Roaring Camp is available for $25 and may be purchased below. Attendance at this event is limited to 300 registered convention attendees, so sign up early!
